Question:

What rugs to get for my horse?

What rugs do I need to get for my horse? Like what makes and how much?

Answer:

Ok you will need a turnout rug, and and a cooler and i would advise an under-rug. A turnout rug is a winter coat for horses, it needs to be strong, waterproof and warm. You can buy different denier which is the toughness of the outer waterproof layer and you can buy different fillings of rug which will determine how warm it is. Depending on where you live ,whether or not you clip your horse, and your horse breed/type you will need a different kind of filling but i would always go for a high denier 800D + this will make your rug last longer. Rambo,Shires, horseware and wheaterbeta are all good brands. And unless on sale i wouldnt expect to pay less than ?100 for a good rug. Coolers are used to wick the sweat away from a horses skin after a hard work-out, as well as wick the water away from the skin and coat after bathing. This is especially useful in cooler areas where having a wet horse would be uncomfortable or dangerous. they stop horse becoming ill by getting a chill etc Any of the above brand would be good for a cooler and should 20-30?
How okorder /
I suggest getting a combo and a light cotton rug.. Cottons arnt too expensive but combos can be around 150 depending..
Get a canvas winter rug and around $60-90 and a Summer synthetic rug $30-$60
For winter you need a heavyweight turnout rug for the cold, especially if your horse is fine or been clipped. In autumn and spring you should have a lightweight rug for variable weather and its not too extreme - can be used on thick or hairy horses in winter. The obvious stable rug will be different weights for different horses from lightweight fleeces to duvets. A stables horse is cooler than one turned out! Summer sheets are not waterproof but to keep the horse cleaner). New Zealand rugs are often waterproof and can be waxed as they're a thick canvas material. They are very strong, practically indistrucable and many owners use them as a all round year rug. Cooler rugs are for exercised horses and take the moisture away and can be put under a turnout rug or as a stable rug on colder days. FLEECES! Are very versatile and can be many colours and designs. Used as; a cooler, travel rug, under turnout or stable rug. EVERY HORSE SHOULD HAVE ONE. Can get different sizes in all rugs and high necked ones if it slips. Horse ware is my all time favourite! I would recommend it but there's also Derby house, Masta and Fal pro which are also decent. Hope this helps! :)
