Question:

What's the best way to soften yams for candied yams? Bake, Steam, boiled?

I would like to make some candied yams for dinner but im not quite sure which technique to use to soften the yams because i don't know which process will produce the best flavor. So could you help me? How do you soften your potato before making your candied yams? which process is best to keep the flavor and/or texture?Do you peel and then boil them?Do you put vent holes in them and stick them in the microwave? What about baking the yams to get them soft?Or, do you just steam them for softness.Which do you prefer?thx 4 ur answer!!!

Answer:

Because you got ripped off with the price ? Kelly Blue Book is the most accurate pricingCars are a depreciating assetYou got jacked dude !! Ha HA
microwaving will preserve the most nutrients and will be fastestBut the texture will degrade the fastestAs the other guy saidPoke it several timesSteaming is also very healthy, but it can get soggy if youre not paying attention Roasting in their skin, will give the best flavor and textureThe skin will just slip off afterwardsYou can avoid drying out by coating with veggie oil or wrapping in aluminum foil(If You do it in foil, you can also add spices and you won't have to worry about dripsDo NOT boil, You loose nutienents, texture and taste.
You have definitely been rip-offOh well, life goes on.
