Question:

what's the difference between a sofa and a couch?

what's the difference between a sofa and a couch?

Answer:

So and Fa are used to illustrate musical notes in relation to Do. If Do is 1, then So is 5 and Fa is 4. A couch is something you sit on when you are not singing.
Elderly people say sofa, young people say couch?!!
Pretty much the same : ) See how sofa and couch is explained on the Wikipedia.. : )
A sofa was originally upholstered and padded seating for two or more people, and not very comfortable to sleep on. The Wikipedia article misses something in explaining 'Chesterfield'. It was also a term is wide use in the Northern Sacramento Valley in the early part of the 20th century for a sofa/couch. This was the word my Norwegian immigrant grandmother used for this piece of living room furniture, and that this is where she immigrated to in the early teens of the 20th century.
