I'm getting my first bike soon and I was just wondering what safety gear is required. Is it just the helmet and gloves or do I have to get one of those thick jackets? The reason I ask is because sometimes it gets really hot out and I would rather not wear that thick jacket during those times.
You can remove the battery. If you have it install on the ceiling and electronic, you can use a piece of plastic for that period of time and remove it after. Don't forget your plastic or your battery.
I remove the battery, leave it by the plates which I have ready, which mekes me remember to replace it when the cooking is done

Rebecca, do you have any spare bedrooms to offer the displaced? Are you donating your cash, clothes, blankets, food, and other resources? I know 3 families who are in harms way, all good people with a great love of the land around them. Some homes in the paths of these fires some communities, in fact, should not have been built. But embers from the flames, with the strong winds, can travel for miles, endangering homes well away from the wild lands where the fires originated. Your last line puts you out there as a pretty cold fish. This is a horrific situation, we're still in the middle of it. Contact the Red Cross, go bring the firefighters a treat, open up your home, but leave the insensitive questions until later, when the fires are under control. FYI I'm all for letting fires burn in the appropriate areas under the appropriate circumstances.
Remove the battery before broiling the steaks (make sure you replace it and test it), you might consider moving the smoke detector, this is easy if it is battery operated, some are hardwired with direct current from the house. Or get a small outdoor grill, or buy an electric fan, or cover it with plastic until you are done cooking. Also, you might put your steaks on the lowest rack, it may not smoke as much. But Anne, I think you should go out for a nice steak dinner and enjoy being broomless while they cook your steak for you….enjoy life, eat out often!!!
