Question:

What should I do if my smoke detector randomly goes off?

Last night at 1:00 am my smoke detector went off randomly for the first time ever. I had to tear it off from the ceiling to turn it off. There was no smoke so could it have detected carbon monoxide? Or was it just a malfunction because it is more than 10 years old?

Answer:

OK the average repair I do on Internet tubs are 5. Meaning at least 5 different leaks, wiring (!!!) or other problems are needed. Internet companies usually less quality jets etc.. Most companies use Balboa electronics and AO smith motors. We work on over 60+ hot tubs under warranty and that is what you need to pay attention to. Who will repair it when it breas and it will break and are there more then one companies in the area that can also do it. With all of that saidI really like the second tier tubs from Masterspa, Cal Spa, Sundance (680 series) and HotSprings (tiger river). I do personally prefer the Down East line from Masterspa with a 2 year extended warranty to equal five years. Depending on your climate you can have it fully foamed or partially. If it is fully foamed one day we will have to dig out the foam to find the leak. ON the other hand the plumbing will not have the ability to vibrate as much and so fewer glue joints will fail. Energy consumption will be less so that is a bonus also. Make sure if it is Balboa electronics that the spa pack is M7 technology. That will break down less in time. I am just not a Hotsprings fan. Ever since their heaters catching fire fiasco and their fix of sending out a fire retardent blanket to smother the flames instead of going out and finding each heater and replacing it I am not a fan of big business companies that watch the bottom line that much over safety. Expect for a mid range tub to be riced at 4500-7000. I loved the Exeter SE from Downeast spas. Do remember this..the average mark up is 40%. So subtract that from the MSRP from the average dealers price. Be sure to get a CD ozonator (No more then 175) and also make sure you know your chemistry!
You have nailed just a few of the key issue, you lose your freedom in this important aspect of your life. WAKE UP AMERICA, I am not giving up my freedoms so you can get a free ride on my money. I pay way too much as it is now, for my freedom. You will not have a choice in what is best for you. The government cannot do anything right with perhaps the exception of running a military. I would hope you do not want government intervention in your medical care. I hate it, and I will not participate, even if I have to stop earning taxable income to do so. This is COMMUNISM people. macaroni is right to some degree, it is the insurance companies that are bankrolling the dem candidates that will win, the rest of us lose.
Oval racing if the fastest, closest and probably most dangerous form of motorsport. Speed in excess of 220mph with 3 or more driver going flat out, side by side through corners. They need stronger chassis', maybe a speed restriction or put restrictor plates on the cars like they do in NASCAR, put wheel tethers on the wheels like in F1, a ride height restriction etc. I think IndyCar has to take a close look at F1 and the safety of drivers. F1 has improved safety massively since Ayrton Senna died and since he died, no driver has dies (2 marshalls have but safety for them and spectators has massively improved). Here a few examples. Robert Kubica crashed before the turn 10 hairpin at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2007. He hit the wall at 186mph with a peak force of 75G. Only injury was a sprained ankle. Heikki Kovalainen at the 2008 Spanish Grand Prix. His left front whel rim failed, his tyre delaminated and he hit the wall at 130mph. He had a minor concussion. And take Mark Webbers crash at the European Grand Prix. Mark Webber attempted to pass Heikki Kovalainen on the fastest point on the circuit. The Red Bull ploughed into the back of the Lotus, obliterating its front end and launching Webber into a flip. The Australian landed upside-down before bouncing back over and careering into the tyre wall. He got out and walked away with no injuries. I think if any of these drivers had been in an IndyCar car or an F1 car from Senna' era, they'd either have had serious injuries or they'd be dead. There are talks of closed cockpits. RIP Dan Wheldon. A great driver and an immense talent who will be sorely missed.
