Question:

What size bearings do my phil wood bicycle hubs take?

My high flange track phil wood hubs need the bearings replaced and i was going to go to a bearing manufacture i know of as opposed to having a bike shop order it. Are they standard 6000 sealed bearings or something different?

Answer:

Phil Wood will do it for you for $40. There are several variations on the hub designs that prevent the ability to give you precise instructions here UNLESS you have the Field Servicable type. If this is the case, just stick a 5mm hex wrench into each end of the axle and twist. The axle will come out and you can replace the bearings.

The bearings will be standard items. Simply take the old bearings with you when you go to buy new ones, the people at the parts counter will be able to measure them and get you the replacement bearings that will fit
