Is there such a thing? about 8 years ago I bought a couch that was supposedly 'top of the line' one your grand kids will have in their first home, etc. Well, the cushions have slumped and the leather has worn holes in it. It will cost more than new to recover and rebuild the cushions.Recommendations on a brand?
I think it is almost impossible to get a couch that will last a lifetime. That just doesnt sound obtainable to me. Unless you are Bill Gates and can afford a billion dollar couch made of gold but it wouldnt be comfortable to sit in.
Anyone who says a sofa will last you a lifetime is lying to make a sale. Most couches need to be thrown out or completely refurbished every 10-15 years.
I don't think there is such a thing. All sofas are made of fabric, wood, and foam, nowadays, and are going to wear down eventually. They just don't make them like they used to, as much of a cliche as that is. Furniture now is made to wear out quickly, so you'll have to buy more and give the furniture company more money. I used to have a sofa that my grandmother bought new in the 40's and looked barely worn. Every sofa I've had since has worn out in just a few years, though. The best I've had luck with is what I have now: a Lane faux leather sofa. I've had it for nearly three years and it doesn't seem to have worn at all, yet. You could make a couch like Bull Shannon's and it would still wear over a couple of decades. ;) Eight years is a pretty respectable turnaround for a modern sofa, though. Edit: Bull Shannon was a very tall, big character on the old TV show Night Court. He had a couch made of poured concrete. :)
Yes, there is such a thing, but you can expect to pay at LEAST $5,000 for it.
