Question:

What to do when using a generator to power appliances in a home which does not have ground wires? ?

I‘m using extension cords to power appliances. What is the shock danger caused by if the generator is not grounded? Is this simply from floating potential difference between generator chassis and the earth ground? How would this reach a lethal voltage? I can see if the live wire in an appliance was shorted to safety ground, but are there other circumstances which could prove to be lethal?

Answer:

pound a metal pipe into the ground and attach grounding wires to the pipe
the electrical power unit needs say 120vlts. the energy company is sendings 1 million volts what do you do with the rest? I suggest you play it safe!!!!
If you are really worried about it, you can ground each appliance by attaching a copper wire with a sheet metal screw to the case or frame of the appliance and run the other end to earth ground.
