Question:

what type of Clay/Glaze should i use to make oven safe ceramic baking dishes?

hello!I am trying to make a set of oven safe ceramic baking dishes (casserole dishes) and i was wondering if there was a certian clay body i needed to use or if a Cone 6 Buff clay would worki have heard of people using teracotta but im not a fan of that since you cant put glazes over cone 4 on themthat leads me to my next question; do i need to use a high-fire Glaze (cone 9-10) or is cone 6 acceptable? and if so does anyone have any recipes they would like to share? thanks in advance!!!!

Answer:

On my Webber grill I will smoke the ribs for a two hours and then put the ribs in foil for two more hoursThey will steam themselves and be almost fall off the bone tenderi wouldn't boil them, they loose flavor and textureAfter you take them out of the foil, put the BBQ sauce on and put them on the grill for two more hours cooking very slow and low heat to caramelize the sugars in the sauce.
Boil slowly for a couple of hours, then put in low oven, about 300 until they start to part from the bone, then add the sauce for the last 30 to 45 minutes.
My Mom got this recipe from her friend: Simmer ribs in water in which you have added 1/2 cup of vinegar for 30 minutesDrain well and place on cookie sheet in oven at 275 degrees F for 4 hours or until fork inserted into meat has no resistanceBaste with your favorite spices or bbq sauce, heat until hotGuaranteed to fall off the bone.
last evening program showed, cooking it on the pan to braise till brown the meat and then put into the crock potMay be visit the American Test Kitchen procedures for making them, but it has steps but always comes through in the recipesHave fun with the Spare-ribs/memorial day
