Question:

what type of heat exchanger is used as a condenser in refrigeration?

What is the best heat exchanger that can be used as a refrigeration plant condenser

Answer:

You don't need any more answers. OFT has already nailed it.
It depends on the size of the system and what cooling agents are available. In general if water is available it is usually the medium of choice for condensing. That means a shell and tube heat exchanger with the water on the tube side and the refrigerant on the shell side. In some areas the availability of water is limited and then the usual choice is an air cooled heat exchanger using finned tubes. This typically means the design has to be based on the hotter ambient temperatures of summer which results in the need for a larger horsepower compressor to do the same amount of refrigeration. Smaller systems in almost all cases use air cooled heat exchangers where the compressor and condenser are packaged as a unit making the installation quicker and easier.
