I went to Home Depot because I need to put up some insulation on the ceiling of my attic and I saw that there are several kinds like r30 or r13 and other fiber insulationI didn't know which one i would need to get and I didn't pay it much mind because this is a project I'm taking on next month since I'm working on another project nowI'm new at being a homeowner and the current insulation that goes stapled between the beams in the ceiling is and has fallen outMy house is almost 60 years so its possibly that the insulation is that oldI live in CT so it has been colder and warmer up there and that's where my bedroom isI would have to crawl into the crawl space and put up new insulation which it's definitely a project for next monthAny help would be appreciated thanks
You do not put insulation on the ceiling of your atticIt will cook your roofIf you have a shingled roof the shingles will not last long if you put insulation up against the roofYou probably need to put better insulation on the floor or your attic Now I am not sure if you have the bedroom in the attic or the bedroom below the attic If you have the bedroom in the attic then you will need insulation that has channels in the insulation ( usually styrofoamThe channels need to put against the roofThis will allow air to flow from the eaves vent to top ventThis will allow the roof not get overly hotI had this in a older house I used to useIt helped but the roof still did not last as long As for crawl space you can use the pink insulationIt should fit snug between the beamsIt should be the easiest to install The R is the rating termThe higher the number the better the insulation factor.
