I know a wooden floor is ideal for dancing ballet...but what are some floors you shouldn't dance on?Is carpeted floor okay?
DO NOT do it on carpet!!!! Your shoe or sock, or just whatever you are dancing with, footwear wise can get snaggled up or caught in the carpet, and you can end up hurting yourself really badly. Try to do it on tile that is not too slippery, or cement. The best though is hardwood. Just dont do it on carpets or rugs
Ballet is the basis of all dance. Ballet is a classic, slow movement/dance, where you use your body in a graceful manner. Ballet is a fun way to gain maturity, poise, and posture. You can become a bit more flexible with Ballet. Acro is a mix of Ballet and Gymnastics. Acro can be slow movement, but it can also be fast. You can become flexible by taking this class. Happy Dancing!
You do not want to dance on carpet, especially not on pointe, if the wooden floor is really shiny you might want some rosin. You can get some of that gray flooring(marlay I think), if you know what i'm talking about,at hardware stores that carry flooring.
The best floor is one that is sprung so that it can absorb some of the force of landing from leaps and jumps and thus spare your knees from excess pounding. If a wood surface is placed directly on top of concrete, it's pretty pointless, as concrete would be the worse kind of floor to dance on. Besides, most dancers these days prefer marley on top of a sprung wooden floor. As for carpet, I suppose you're asking in terms of practicing at home? Because carpet is certainly not a good surface for ballet. And, again, the key factor is what is underneath. Practicing in your carpeted basement still means that you're on top of concrete. But since you're probably not going to be moving around much if you're practicing at home, it doesn't much matter what the surface is. My daughter marked moves, stretched, and thought up choreography in her bedroom that has shag carpeting. Practice wherever you're able to; just make sure you are kind to your knees.
no, some excersises require brushing (sliding) and carpet will not let you do that. Sorry
