Home life was relatively untouched - unlike WW2. During WW 1 there were no bombing raids, nor rockets launched. The main effect was that so many of the ablebodied men were in the armed forces, or in the navy, There were shortages, but more people at that time had home gardens, kept chickens etc, so the shortages weren't anywhere near as severe as during WW2.
