It's an 81 ford mustang 2.3L everytime we run it. It melts the cam bearings. HELP
The comments about lube and bearing installation are important. But also check cam tunnel true. The centerline of alll the cam bearing bosses must be in a perfect line. A good machine shop should be able to check the block's dimensions for this. May have to have the cam tunnel line-honed to assure the block is right.
serious lack of oil flow to the cam bearings, check your oil pressure. you want a MINIMUM of 10 psi for every 1000 rpm's of engine speed. check the pickup screen on the oil pump, make sure the screen is clean, worst case, the oil passages for the camshaft are plugged up, preventing proper oil flow. also... if the bearings are not installed properly where the holes on the bearing line up with the holes in the oil passages, the cam will starve.
It sounds like the oil passages are stopped up or the bearings are put in upside down. the cam is probably whiped out along with the bearings. The webs that the bearings fit into should be a tight fit so they hold them in place or they will spin.

Lack of lubrication would be a good place to start. Personally I would junk the 4 cyl. and drop in a 5.0(302).More power and performance = more speed and fun!!
