Question:

Whats a good exhaust system for my 1992 Pontiac Firebird?

I was wondering what kind of exhaust system to get for my Firebird 92. I am looking for the best one for the best price with the best performance for my model of Firebird. I would like it to be a dual exhaust I was looking at some of the flow master exhaust systems but all it said about them was what kind of series and not much about the performance. My car is just a regular Firebird and not a trans am so please don‘t think that it is just a 5.0L V8 engine with dual exhaust but still has a bit of fight in it but would like to add a bit more. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Answer:

I also have a ninety Trans Am 305 TPI. I even have here setup - Flowmaster 80 sequence American Thunder Catback with chrome steel pipes. 2.25 in 3 inch all the way by way of to back -Edelbrock Ceramic lined Headers outcomes- very deep sound and fantastic WOT sound the two in and out of automobile. Sound like a beast! i spotted a extensive advance in torque. especially through headers. The muffler will sense like the automobile is respiratory greater ideal.
Dynomax UltraFlo SS cat-back exhaust system $317.00 from Summit Racing, for a good start. Flowmaster is restrictive junk, Dynomax outflows them by 48%, stock exhaust flow rates (in CFM) are even worse, completely horrific numbers! Headers are a going to be problematic, and engineering a true dual exhaust with X-Pipe crossover and still being able to pass inspection is an expensive proposition. You really might want to start with an Eddy (Edelbrock) High-Flo TPI manifold first and then play with exhaust system improvements. Real improvements in HP and Torque are accomplished with parts made of steel and aluminum not chips.
I myself have a Firebird but its the 1994 Trans Am model. What I did with mine was put a KN cold air intake on it first. That is ALWAYS where you want to start when you try to up the performance on a car (especially a beauty like yours). Then I put headers on second. The reason you want the intake on first is solely because if you put any other mods on first such as, headers, or exhaust, it will heat up the engine more than it needs to be. It is safer on your car. And I would suggest KN for a Cold Air Intake, Headers I would suggest Kooks, and for Exhaust I would suggest Borla Catbacks. That is what I have and my car is dynoed at 372 rwhp. You will not get that much out of yours because you have the 3.1 Liter 305 while I have the 5.7 Liter 350 BUT it will still haul some serious $$ and there is no doubt that you will have fun with it! Good luck with the car. And if you have any other questions about car stuff feel free to message me and ask. I am usually on here every day.
Sprouting and germinating are the same thing. So what are you asking?
