Question:

whats better for exhaust header pipes: stainless or ceramic?

i have a 02 cavalier(2.2 dohc) and was wondering if adding different headers would improve the sound and the performance. i know cheaper grades of stainless tarnish and was wondering what is overall better? is it worth the time and money installing these. i saw some cheap ones on ebay (ceramic) for 80 bucks or so.

Answer:

WATER. Plenty of it. Food. Warm clothing, if applicable Cellphone
Sound will mostly be altered by the mufflers as will performance, gains can be seen in better headers that are tuned for the engine. Your choice of mufflers will also offer gains in performance but mostly alter the sound over the headers.
I would just go with ceramic. Like i said i got the same motor in my S10. One thing i do know is that on my S10 there is a bracket hooked to the stock header that holds the AC compressor. There is also other brackets coming off the stock header to hold other things. Because of this i cant put a header on my S10 so i would definatly take a look at this. Also you want to make sure its smog legal if your in a smog state. Also you might gain 5 hp but just to let you know these motors are hard to gain hp. I did a Kn intake and Flowmaster exhaust and it did help.
