Whats that thing called that u see on the bottom of the front bumper of race and drift cars. Its some kind of bumper cover support mechanism, it‘s held up by one or more small hinged poles on each side of the bumper.
Tommy the front air dam is the part added to the section bellow the bumper on performance cars it in stock form is a gravel shield. be advised they tend to get banged up a lot at dips, speed bumps, tire stop in parking and of course curbs.
If you are talking about the little spoiler at the bottom of the bumpers that are held on by dampers, that are usually made of carbon fiber, its called a Wind-splitter. its main use is aerodynamics.
It is called a splitter. It keeps air that would otherwise go under the car from doing so. This creates a zone of high air pressure above the splitter and a low pressure zone below it. This creates downforce, keeping the front of the car from lifting off the ground and losing traction. It has to be balanced by a wing or spoiler at the back, or the downforce in front of the front axle would actually lever the back of the car upwards. Similarly, having a rear wing without a splitter can lift up the front of the car.
