I'm a student and so don't need pro quality, and could do with a flat bed anyway. But thought getting one that does medium format negatives would be usefull. The HP G4050 looks good and can find them at between ?150 - 250ish is there anything else that would gives more bang for your buck?
It depends on the city. Where mine are located, I am responsible to make certain they are in working order before I rent the unit. Mine are hard wired with battery back up, so I must ensure that they are properly wired, the back up battery is fresh and that the unit tests working. After the unit is rented, the resident must check and maintain the battery. We send out a notice when the time changes in autumn and spring to remind tenants to check the batteries and test the unit. If there are any problems reported by the resident, we have our electrician check and/or replace the unit if it is not operating properly.
