Whats the cheapest/best performance exhaust system on the market?
You have dual exhaust pipes from a Y split at the rear axle not a complete dual exhaust system from the motor back. An exact replacement stainless steel Dynomax Super Turbo would be the easiest least expensive way out. If you were to replace the complete system with headers and individual catalytic converters it would cost nearly $1000. do do it up correctly. It's entirely up to you. Usually a juiced up full (headers included) exhaust system will benefit a blueprinted high performance motor much more than an every day driver.
The catch is that you're getting something that sounds loud and is made cheaply. You don't get best and cheapest. One or the other, not both. Assuming you're over the age of 15, you should understand that by now. You get what you pay for. And notice how the one you're looking at, doesn't even have a brand. It's just a catback. Which means it cost them about 10$ to make that. Even the best exhausts, however, only give a gain of 3-4 peak horsepower. Through most of the power band, they do nothing. And no, 3-4 hp is NOT enough to notice. It'll sound louder, you'll drive harder, but the car will not be faster. It will be purely placebo effect.
Vip is correct - you're asking for an impossibility - cheapest/best. If your system is already cat-back, you can salvage the piping and replace the muffler for one with a quieter note. Also, don't go looking for a tailpipe resonator with a big cone on the end - it acts like a megaphone and does nothing for power. Best bet to ensure performance without attracting attention is to get a decent flowing muffler, and put a decent diameter turn-down on the end, so the sound is directed down - not straight out. A complete system that cheap is likely just mild steel with a cheap chrome plate - guaranteed to rust at the seams in short order.
