Question:

When preforming magic?

I am totally clue less when it comes to magic, but to preform it on someone, do you need a person's real name or is a name associated to that person fine? Not planning to hex someone, no lol. Just wondering because I heard like for some fortune telling they need a person's real, full name. So this thought poped into my mind.

Answer:

PERforming. Not PREforming. Popped, not poped. Magic isn't real, spells and hexes don't work, and you need to pay more attention in class. Aw, widdle boy get mad? Cast a hex, go ahead. Ask me if it works. Kids are too funny. Amethyst Moon, you're so full of crap. There's no testing or certification for things that aren't real. But I know where you could pick up certification and a million bucks...if you're interested...
It depends on the ritual you're using. You can just concoct one that doesn't involve names.
Okay, so you're not planning to hex someone. But you can do harm with good as with bad, so always navigate the moral maze. A Wizard of Earthsea, by Ursula K LeGuin, while fiction, sums it up quite well. Anyways, with sympathetic magic, you need connections to the person, the more, the better. In order of strength, they are: 1) A person's true name/number (Hermetic/Qabalistic) 2) The person's blood. (not recommended, for so many reasons!) 3) A person's hair, nails, or other bodily artefacts (again, not recommended!) 4) An artefact of great emotional significance to the person 5) The person's real name and likeness 6) The person's real name and a hazy likeness 7) The person's real name and location Below this, you might as well not try.
I wouldn't recommend you do any spells or anything of the sort while performing magic, since you blatantly said you are clueless. However, to answer your question, you do not always need the person's real/full name. If you have a name you attribute to them, it will work as well, the real thing that matters is that you are thinking/have a clear image of the person your are casting against/for in your head while you are doing the spell. And don't mind other people, they're just trying to shove their opinions down your throat.
