Question:

When to replace NES 72 pin connector?

I just bought an original Nintendo Entertaintment System (NES) and got the pin connector inside the console replaced. Every how long should i replace it if I use it regularly?

Answer:

Only replace it when the NES stops reading your cartridges. You'll know when that happens because you'll get the flashing red light on the power button, or games turn on all scrambled or the blue screen of death. There's no set time as it all depends on how often you use the NES, how dirty your connectors are on your games, how much dust gets in the pins (dust cover left open for a long time), etc. Whenever you buy any used NES game, make sure to clean the connectors. My suggestion is a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol - any pharmacy/supermarket has it), then clean the connecting pins. I've seen some games so disgustingly dirty that I wonder what kind of home it came from lol
