where can i buy a heat exchanger for my gas furnace?
there is to much labor involved to change out a heat exchanger unless its under warranty get a new furnace
1. Depends on what make and model of your furnace-More input needed! Some brands are very proprietary. 2. Depends on if you are doing the work or a technician. By the time you figure labor into the equation, it's more expedient to get a new furnace. 3.Depends on where are you at and if you can get it wholesale from a manufacturer. This information along with what caused the exchanger to crack or leak are critical things to take into consideration. Older units may not have the part available and while originally rated at 80% efficient, are about 70% due to age and wear on the components. Was it a component that caused the unit to over heat and crack? A accident in cleaning? And there are units that are 93% efficient now with DC servo motors that change speed in proportion to the temperature of the heat exchanger that along with A/C systems that are so matched with outdoor sensors for temperature and humidity, you could be saving yourself some big bucks on electricity as well as gas.
