If you are trying to join a copper pipe to a PVC pipe, you will need a transition. There are several ways to make the transition. It depends on your skill level and the access to various parts. The easiest way is to find a plumbing store (even Lowe's or Home Depot) that carries manufactured transitional fittings. The inside diameter will not matter, just the actually pipe size and material. If you can't find these kind of fittings, you can either sweat a female adapter onto the copper and then use a PVC male adapter or you could use the same concept with a compression fitting for the copper side. If it happens again, listen carefully. The one thatis causing the problem will sound different from the others. Take a vacuum cleaner hose to it. Probably it is dirty.
