I want to have my own little block of the same material the egyptians used for their pyramids for decorations. The ones used by the ancients were made of silicon dioxide. Are all quartz the same, and where can I buy some?

Answer:

it is formed beneath the surface of the earth in hydrothermal veins and pegmatites, from SILICON OXYGEN, its formula is SiO2, which is two oxygen atoms attached to a silicon one. beneath the surface of the earth at high temperatures and under high pressure. a quartz crystal can take millions of years to grow to a decent size. well-formed crystals may reach several meters in length and weigh hundreds of kilograms. it grows in high temperatures (250°C and 450°C) in these environments individual crystals grow by adding molecules at their surface, layer by layer. These veins of quartz may bear precious metals such as gold or silver, and form the quartz ores sought in mining. erosion of pegmatites may reveal expansive pockets of crystals
Its formed in the volcanic ashes. Due to high temprament.
