I have a 22 month old Golden. As many of you know they are tough chewers. I always buy her the toughest toys I can get my hands on but she always manages to chew through them within minutes. Yesterday I got her one of those fire hose toys thinking she wouldn't be able to chew through it and if so it would take her at least a few days. Nope! She's already torn the edges. So where can I find a toy thats heavey duty - golden retriever - durable? (She can also tear through kongs and nylabones and tennis balls.)
Truthfully you can have one just about any time. In the winter or cooler months you just have to make due with the weather. Make your guests comfortable with a fire pit,blankets and hot beverages. Of course the 'best' time of year to throw one is probably in early June or late September when the weather cooperates. Every year our family has at least one bonfire in October. We have coffee,cider,chili,hot dogs. Everybody is bundled up in clothing and sitting with blankets around the huge fire pit my husband's grandad builds. Makes the cold bearable.
1. put on some extra clothes.. such as a second shirt or some more pants. a coat well do good to. 2. find some blankets ..wrap them around you. 3. if you have a oven or stove then maybe turning them on well get some heat in your house. 4. if there is someone else with you then huddle next to them for body heat. you can do that when ready though no rush. that's all i know ..
