I'm not entirely sure if it really is a felony When I was in college, my smoke alarm was running out of battery so it was making that annoying beeping sound..so I took out the battery and forgot to buy a new one. I left my apartment for xmas break and when I got back, I just had a note from my landlord telling me to put the new battery in when I got back. So I'm sure tape isn't THAT bad. But I guess the maintenance guy would know.
