If I was you, I just ask the owner if he wants to get rid of them. Tell him they are an eye sore, and that you can put them to good use. If you just try and walk off with them, you might get caught, and charged with stealing private property. If he asks what you want them for, tell him the truth, and invite him to lend a hand, or give some pointers.
I just saw an article about those pallets!! I can't remember what site it was but it had a home theater with pallets painted white and stacked like this..two stacks side by side of three pallets with two stacks in front of that two high and two pallets in front of that so it looked like bleachers at a ball game. The top pallets of each row had huge cushions on them and roll pillows like a back. It looked very cool and I know that people are always asking where to get those pallets from, maybe you could hand out flyers announcing that you're selling them or put up posters around your town?
