For spiritual purposes, I would like to find a quartz crystal not in a shop but in the wilderness. What is a good geological environment where crystals can be found. In such a place, where would one look, pan, dig, etc?I would like to find 1 big one that fits in the palm of the hand, as well as some tiny ones that can be used to construct a rattle. Also, what gear would I need to fetch them? For example: pan for water, hammer for rock, etc.
Quartz aka silicone dioxide SiO2 has 2 oxygen atoms per unit. At a molecular weight of about 60g/mol, in 3.8g there will be 0.063 mols of quartz. In 1 mol, there are 6.02x10^23 molecules. Therefore, the number of oxygen atoms is 2 oxygen (in 1 quartz molecule) x 0.063 mols x 6.02x10^23molecules/mol=the correct answer once you put into your calculator
