Where is the nearest fire extinguisher?
I would say it depends on the lyrics. I haven't seen too many of those videos you describe, but I know they are out there. I'd be interested in finding out who has conducted any experiments on how rap music slows down intellectual responses in school and also if it slows down individual responses towards someone asking for assistance. I do know that at one job I was at, an individual who listened to rap non-stop (with ear phones) was amazingly slow at responding to social cues and requests for assistance on tasks, in my opinion, whereas other employees who listened to other genres of music, with or without earphones or a headset, responded noticeably faster. When I tried to talk to the individual who was all wrapped up (pun) in rap music, it was like I had to ask 3 or 4 times to even get his attention, whereas the others - even with a headset on, would look up and respond almost immediately. It may be that studies on rap music and intellectual development would contrast quite a bit with already established studies on Classical music and intellectual development. Having said that, I have run into some very funny, clean rap songs once in a while which I did think were clever and entertaining, but it seems lately they are the exception, not the rule.
Rap is definitely having a negative influence on society. My roommate listens to rap and thinks it is actually music and has a meaning. The worst part is that he listens to songs by artists like Soulja Boy and Lil' Wayne and thinks they are actually music that have meanings. I feel sorry for him because of how shallow he is.
Yes. I do think it has an negative influence, it creates a very bad attitude in our teens and it causes them to be disrespectful in many ways also and some of the teens become violent as a result of it and they think they are in control of everything if they become so absorbed in it.
I feel bad for Connor. WWE obviously feels bad. I think lots of people do. No kid should die or even deal with cancer at age of 8 and especially his parents having to live their lives knowing that their son died of cancer at age 8 is heart-breaking. I think when people say He doesn't deserve to be recognized is not necessarily saying that his life is pointless and should not be recognized but the way WWE is putting him in Hall of Fame. People have issues with the Hall of Fame and one of them is this. WWE inducts Connor, a fan who had cancer but a strong spirit. Fans complain that just because he had cancer is no reason to induct him into the Hall of Fame. Connor never wrestled, never really appeared on WWE television, and Hall of Fame should only be for wrestlers and managers that were actually part of WWE therefore making Connor unworthy to be inducted. You have to also remember that the internet is has some of the cruelest people on. That is not a joke. There have been studies saying that people on the internet are labeled as psychos and crazy with some of the things they say. People are not afraid to write comments and hurtful things about a sad story of an 8 year old fan who died of cancer.
