I work in the Fire Protection industry and to be honest with you, there really isnt a market for 2nd hand extinguishers. You can just toss it in the garbage if ALL the pressure has been discharged from it. If you toss it in the garbage while it still has pressure, it will go bang when the garbage compactor compresses it and your garbage man will be pissed. Depending on the extinguisher type it *could* blow a hole in his truck. Also, depending on its size and type, it may be worth getting it recharged but it will probably have to be pressure tested as well (If its more than 5 years old) And that might cost you a fair bit. Small extinguishers between the sizes of 1KG and 2KG arent really worth recharging. The cost of a new one is roughly the same. You *can* recycle the extinguisher if you take it to the dump. They usually have special spots for old metal cylinders like your extinguisher. Also: If you wanna get creative, and you smoke weed (like i used to many years ago) you can actually make it into a bong which will make it a very interesting talking point next time you light one up with friends.
