Question:

Which do you think will provide best insulation against noisy neighbor common wall?

I have a small room 9ft by 9 ft with a common wall.I spoke to two construction guysOne suggested blown in cellulose in the wall and then adding a layer of drywall with green glue in between.Another one suggested leaving a 1 inch space, building a totally new wall and filling the new wall with blown in insulationIm curious which one would be best at blocking noise? Which one would be more expensive?

Answer:

They totally are responsible and if you have problems call the consumer hot line or better business bureauDid u take pictures or have witnesses, this helps tremendously
The blown in cellulose is a superior sound barrier It requires holes to be cut at the top of the wall (access for the blow-in hose) between each of the stud baysThose holes will be small and easy to fix with a few screws, some scrap wood for backing, a little bit of hot mud, and maybe a can of spray textureI would just have cellulose put into the existing wallCheap, fast, easy and great soundproofingOverall the lowest cost and the least amount of work and hassle If you blow enough cellulose into the wall it will not be able to settle4 is enough to prevent you from hearing noise as loud as 130dBIf you do your due diligence you will find cellulose insulation is better at soundproofing than glass insulation, and is used in walls alsoIt is sprayed into new construction walls while it is dampThat application is used in mostly drier climatesFor your project filling the existing wall will soundproof the wall very well.
