Question:

which is better cement or Concrete?

i need to fill in a crack on our roof which is allowing water to get in to the house, the problem is that erea is always wet. at first i was tolled to use cement. then i read that concrete quot;hardensquot; when wet. so wouldn't that be better to use? its not a big crack so i wont need allot. so how long would it take to quot;dryquot;?

Answer:

concrete cement on your roof? you need to hire someone who knows what he is doing
yes there are special materials to repair cracks , they are roof cement elastic materials like sikaflex , but advised to call a specialist to do it
I think you should have someone more knowledgeable about roof repair fix it for you I don't think concrete or cement is the answer to fix it, there are special sealers for roofs get it fixed before expensive damage happens.
I think you may be confusing the materials. When they told you to use cement, they probably meant roofing cement which is more like a tar material. This is an appropriate material to fill a gap on a roof but may only last about a year. A roofer would be able to do more permanent repair. The other cement is actually a gray powder that is a component of concrete, but not suitable for a roof.
This is a concrete slab roof, right? Get a 'hydraulic cement' for that repair. It's designed and compounded for such a problem. Clean the inside of the crack as best you can to get a good bond. It 'set's in the presence of water, hard in about an hour, and completely in about 24hr.s. 'Concrete' is just 'Cement' with an 'aggregate' (sand and/or gravel), added to it.
