Question:

Which is better to install in the kitchen; granite or quartz?

Obviously quartz is cheaper, but I am wondering which material is better. We are pretty clean people, meaning we clean up spills when they happen and leaving stains overnight or on the counter for a long period of time would not be an issue in our home.

Answer:

It's also not a plant. The question belongs in Earth Science...after it's reworded.
The question doesn't make sense. Quartz can be fractured like any mineral.
When you see quartz, a lot of the time you're seeing the 6-sided crystal form. That's how it grows. If you hit it with a hammer, it shatters and makes a conchoidal (curved) fracture, it doesn't follow the lines of the crystal faces like salt.
