You overlooking the hassle factor. Who wants to bother adding additive every time the gas tanks low. And even if you still do this the octane level could be wrong Just use the exact octane the vehicle manufacturers manual tells you to use
Fuel octane boost additives are expensive. If you math it out you'll find in the long run 93 octane ten cents a gallon more for a 20 gallon tank adds up to two bucks. What kind of octane booster can you buy for $2.00? Save yourself the aggravation and feed the car better gas.
