Is galvanized steel pipe stronger than standard black steel pipe? What are their max pressure/burst pressure ratings?
If the battery is hot, then the detector is drawing too much current and is likely faulty. My detector batteries last at least a year.
I personally own a couple of Abu Garcia Conolon Premier rods, and they are pretty decent for the money. I bought one at Bass Pro for about 40 bucks, used it for a while, then bought another. Definitely not the best rods out there, but for 40 bucks, not bad at all. Depending on what you fish with and for, you'll need to decipher between the actions. If you fish a lot of plastics, I would go with a medium action. If you fish a lot of jigs, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and other swimming style lures, I would go with a medium heavy action.
