Question:

Which LCD monitor is easiest on the eyes?

I purchased my last monitor because it had the TCO'03 rating, and it's been pretty good on my eyes. It's 17 and has a silver border/case.I've heard that black and other dark-colored borders/cases are bad on the eyes because most of the time you're looking at lighter backgrounds and the sharp contrast strains the eyes.I was about to purchase a 19 LCD monitor the other day it was on sale and had nice specs like 4 ms response, 1400:1 contrast ratio, etc. But it had a black border and did not have a TCO rating, so I held off.Any suggestions? What's best on the eyes?

Answer:

Mine is! It's a Sony E96D 19 TFT. ?169 from Misco cat number WW125180 It arrived perfect no, and I mean no dead pixels!
for look, sharpness , quality , style . all way go for APPLE SONY
Samsung Don't go for the huge ones. I would say that 18-20 inches is definetly (sp?) big enough
I stare at a monitor all day every day, it has a black border, and my eyes are fine. I recommend you get a reasonably priced monitor regardless of border colour, and take a trip to an optician.
I agree with the other answers. I have an 18 Dell LCD and have no problems with eye strain. An interesting note, my uncle ( a retired IBMer) said he read that the optimum size TV should be 1/3 the distance you are from it. The reason being if it's too big, your eyes are constantly going left and right to take in the entire view. Too small and you wind up squinting. Whether this might also apply to computer screens, I don't know. If you haven't all ready done so, try adjusting the brightness and contrast to a comfortable level- that's about the easiest ( cheapest) trick to do. Hope this helps you!
