i have a 1998 mustang and i was planning on putting new wheels on it, but the wheels come to close to the wheel well. so i want to lift the car up to make it sit higher. so which would make it higher? new struts? or new coil springs? i can only afford 4 of 1 of them
Yes, If the New struts are the Gas filled versions. As someone said, You may need to replace the rear Struts/Shocks to get the vehicle to be totally Level again. Shocks and struts that are Gas Filled, actually raise the car a bit.
Would suggest you actually install a wheel on the front and rear, since you already have them, to get an accurate check. A 1998 GT has the larger 245/45/17 tires available with the five split spoke wheel upgrade. You apparently are considering an offset wheel that protrudes out too far. This will also create the need for a re-alignment and stress the suspension. Are you sure this is what you want?
neither will raise the height enough, cause as the car hits a bump the suspension will still drop and hit the rim try to get rims that have the offset to where more of the width of the rim is deeper in the wheel well and not sticking out as much
