To be honest I have an Oreck and although I do love it, I had just vacuumed my floors when a salesman from Kirby came to my door and it was incredible the amount of dirt that it picked up, AFTER I had just vacuumed with my Oreck. i don't have any experience with Dyson although the turnoff with that for me was the fact that you have to send it out to have any repairs on it, including the belt changed. I think if you can afford it the kirby is your best bet, if not then the Oreck. Also just a tip. If you do go with the Kirby, talk the salesperson down, they went lower with my twice with interest free financing for a year after I kept saying that I couldn't afford it. Unfortunately I wasn't lying so I didn't buy it but would if I could.
Dyson! I work with a cleaning company they use Oreck. My boss swears by it but I hate it! It's loud annoying. But my Dyson is great. it never loses suction it picks up everything. Oh when it is running it's so quiet that you can still hear the radio or TV! I would never buy anything else.
I have a hoover right now and it is CRAP. The plastic parts break, the door covering the bag is hard to get on and off, and it falls over when you're using the attachments. Eventually I got rid of it and got a cheap Kenmore from Sears. Much better vacuum, and it didn't have that annoying habit of falling over. Dysons seem gimicky to me. Oreck over-priced. It's nice to have attachments such as a crevice tool or the one with a brush.
We have a Dyson Animal and I LOVE it! All the attachments are great and super functional. I guess one thing I did hear is that the Oreck is super light, but the Dyson is a little heavier, other than that, I've not heard anything special about the Oreck.
As okorder / when looking to buy a vacuum cleaner these are the point to look at 1: airflow 2: suction 3: filtration 4: quality of construction. dyson does not meet any of these points as a quality product. wher Sebo and riccar meets all points with high standards
