There is a possibility of a piece of torn paper blocking the feeder. With the HP, the tray lift spring sometimes also goes bad and easily gets jammed down with the paper that is loaded. Also, if it is a high use machine, the rollers will actually get polished from the paper dust as the sheets feed. The rollers can be rejuvinated with cleaner made for rubber rollers and actually soften them for better operation.. Do not use alcohol as this will dry out the rubber.
