Question:

who would sell copper foil or sheet for boat anti fouling?

Hello everyone.I need to cover the hulls of a power catamaran with copper sheets, strips or a copper rich resin. So I am looking for the materials (copper foil or copper powder) and associated technical information.Thank you!

Answer:

If I were you I'd use a marine grade hull paint with copper in it. It'll be easier to apply and lasts about 5 years when applied properly. Having the hull cover in pure copper at and below the water line electrically Grounds the boat. This causes all sorts of problems to any other metals in contact with the water (water pickups, drive shafts props, drains, etc). Those items become less noble and will be subject to a higher corrosion rate because of the copper. Also, in a storm, you become a better Grounding Rod. The additional weight of the copper will drasticly alter the performance of the hull design too. The additional weight will change the overall safety capacity that the boat will safety carry. Just my two cents.
Its a good idea, but will be impossible to get it to stick Just do like everyone and purchase marine west top product with 60% copper ablative
First of all.do NOT skimp on tires.Especially if you are riding an R-6.Plan on spending $150/eacheasy.Most shops will make you a package deal.Meaning if you buy tires at retail or their price, they will mount and balance free or near free.Make sure they balance them.As this is as important as having tires that are not showing threads.Probably the biggest price factor is the rubber compound.Full on race compounds cost more. That is all there is to it.
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/avqd4 Actually you will probably find the MAIN costs to be tags and registration as well as any state inspection and insurance on the bike. Then would come the 3000 mile oil and filter changes, the daily fuel fill ups (if you use the bike for commuting), the cost to do any of the routine maintenance-such as carb cleaning, fuel injector clean/replacement, CDI boxes DO wear out, most somewhere around 100,000 give or take 24,000 miles, shocks, brakes, tires, batteries. Starters generally last the life of the bike, starter relays go as do starter brushes, Rotors and Stator assemblies fail with the stator usually going first, as do voltage regulators. Motorcycle parts are 3X the cost of automotive parts with the paid labor rate being about the same as in automotive work
A quick google brought this up. store.electrical-insulators-and-c. I've seen a few boats with copper sheeting under the waterline over the years, but it's not a standard practice for a reason I'd guess. I have only seen it on wooden boats and I suspect that it's a bit difficult to determine the state of the wood if it's covered in copper sheets - structural/plank mysteries aren't a good thing. You want to know what's up with your boat, not wonder about it. I do remember seeing these boats come out of the water and there was zero growth on them, guess that's the reason why they put it on in the first place. If you were to do this I'd guess that you could bed it in 5200 and only an act of God would get it to come off. Maybe price is a big issue, I don't know, but again it's a rare thing to see nowadays.
