You don't list all the tools you used for the process - it is understood and would therefore be redundant. It would be like saying the media for a painting is Oil paint on canvas primed with gesso with various paintbrushes, turpentine and varnish.
There are several types of the ridge type. The part that sticks out past the ridge can be one of several lengths. You may have one that is too short. Also, the o ring in the female receptor may be worn. Try putting a little plumbers grease on it with a Q tip. If that doesn't do it you can try to replace the O ring. You can remove the old one with a curved dental pick, and try pushing the new one in with the male end connector.
