Why they used the ceramic material.
since u dont see big co2 trucks at the airports co2 isnt th only thing that will put out jet fuel anything that will separate the o2 from the fire will do like foam water will but ur more likely gonna spread it around
Water cannot extinguish any liquid fuel fire because it is heavier than the fuel. Foam is the best agent to use on liquid fuel fires.
the whole point of putting out a fire with water is to keep oxygen from burning because fire needs oxygen to burn when you try to put out a jet fuel fire all your doing is spreading the fuel around without stopping the oxygen from burning. the best way to put out a jet fuel fire or oil fire is to beat it with a towel or blanket trust me it works
My guess would be because they don't want to contaminate the acid. Contaminate is a big problem when dealing with etching quartz
Ceramics are resistant to most acids, even at elevated temperatures. Most metals, even supposedly acid resistant alloys will still corrode fairly quickly when exposed to warm acids.
