I'm writing diary entries of a fictional person for classShe is considering switching to eco-friendly yarns, and I cannot think of reasons whyAny ideas or obvious reasons why someone should use eco-friendly yarn for their hobby?
A lot of the yarns used today are made from by-products from the petroleum industryThey are essentially a plastic, and they don't disintegrate like organic materials willThey contain many ingredients that are not friendly to humansOthers require a lot of processing with toxic chemicals and extremely high uses of energyThese are especially true of the new natural fibres, such as bamboo, soy silk, corn yarn, and othersWhile it is a good idea, the process is not economically sustainingCotton is a plant fibre that has been produced for thousands of yearsHowever, the current crops produced in many parts of the world of only white cotton (it comes in many natural colours) require extensive fertilizers and intensive irrigation to produce a cropThe lands are destroyed after thisThe only fibre that requires little energy to produce and that is renewable and doesn't destroy the environment is wool from sheepAlpaca and llama are much the sameThe hair is sheared off the animals in spring and doesn't seem to hurt them at allBy winter, they have produced enough to stay warm over winter and we shear them againIt still is the nicest to work with and comes in so many different varieties for any purpose.
Sorry, this is just a guess: It sounds like they would LIKE experience driving a fork lift, or operating a strapping machine, or operating a conveyor beltSince you probably don't have the experience, you can say you would look forward to working in a warehouse environment, where you would expect to learn skills such as these, along with inventory control and overall efficient operation.
