Because they are not figs. God Hates Figs. He smote one once. It died. Also, he just likes Brits and Ausies better than Nigerians. Which is why you never see Nigerians doing that most coveted of occupations.
I'm still trying to figure out how that gecko keeps having a new accent every six weeks. Sad thing is I'm old enough to remember when it had Kelsey Grammer's accent.
All related to culture and area... many different languages sound cool or sexy to others of a different language. That is why they use them in commercials, it gets some peoples attention.
