Question:

why do brakes lock up on a motorcycle?

why do brakes lock up on a motorcycle?

Answer:

Sounds like someone filled it with Windex instead of windshield washer fluid. . You have to disconnect the hose to the windshield tank then operate the washer until it is empty. . Then fill it with water and repeat to flush it out clean. Do several times as needed to get tank clean. . Then refill it with fresh windshield washer fluid.
Motorcycle brakes are sensitive and powerful. You have to squeeze them progressively, not just jam them on. You can't use them like an on/off switch. Learning and practicing this is an essential part of riding well, smoothly and safely.
Less weight makes it easier to lock the brakes up. Most don't realize that they are pulling the brake lever that hard.
Because you stomp on the pedal too hard, they are adjusted too tight, or mechanical failure.
Just carefully remove the hose from where it attaches to the connector under your hood. Have someone hold the hose into a jug while you push the pump button, Dont just throw that stuff into the street somewhere. find a safe place to dispose of it. Its probably NOT cat pee, someone probably put amonia into it. That is a traditional glass cleaner.
