Question:

Why do people get certain dreams when they are sick?

I know I get the same dream over and over again when I am sick. It is a two scene dream that loops over and over. It is in black and white. The first scene is one of a person digging a whole. The person is a dark silhouette on a white (yellowy-browny light) background. The second scene is of a black bulldozer scooping something up. This dream makes me feel quite uncomfortable. Could anyone explain what this might mean?I asked a few other people if they had certain dreams when they were sick, too. Most of them said they did. Does any one know why this happens?

Answer:

You may dream in black and white when you are sick because you are not feeling well. Black and white dreams can be a sign of depression or sadness. You get the same dream over and over because your subconscious is trying to relay a message to you and make you aware of something. To dream of digging indicates that you are working too hard to uncover the truth in a problem that is haunting you. You may also be overly preoccupied with trying to find out about yourself, your reputation, and your self-identity. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you are working on getting to the root of some issue. To see a bulldozer in your dream suggests that you are feeling pushed away from what you want. Or that you are being diverted away from the path toward your goals. You may be feeling helpless and bullied. Alternatively, it suggests that you need to organize and clear away the clutter in your life. Many illness are caused by stress, and stress is caused by resisting or refusing to accept certain things in your life. The dream may be a message about negative thought patterns that you do not recognize which lead to the illness.
