Why do people make so many silos in some areas of Australia? What is the point of this?
If you leave the grain crop on the ground the sulphur crested cockatoos fly up and eat it. Covering with tarpaulins helps, but they can lift or chew through those. There are mice and rats too.
Silos are used for the storage of grain. This protects the grain and reduces the risk of it being eaten by vermin.
Silos are used to store Grain etc. Most silos would be in areas where they are used ie. near farming area or near ports(for export). The reason why there are so many of them, Wheat (as one example) is one of Australia's largest industries. A lot of wheat etc equals a lot of silos.
