It was recently installed in my apartment by the retarded apartment maintenance staff. It seems like they messed it up because I can't imagine it's supposed to do that. Plus they generally mess everything up.Thanks
Well I can understand making noises while running but making noises while not running is something new that I have heard.
If this is a new unit, then it is the heat exchanger which contracts as it cools.

Of course, being a super duper genius and top grade tech I'm wondering why you didn't just whip it right in there for yourself, and show everyone how its done? Oh, I forgot,.....you can't.
