It seems every iron I‘ve ever had will eventually leak. Why? Am I doing something to cause this?
Abe gave a great answer about the distilled waterI just wanted to add to empty out the water after every use helps. Don't let the water sit in the iron.
like you said most irons will eventually leak, this is caused by the buildup of calcium inside the iron, especially if you use regular tap water which is usually high in calcium content. with your next new iron, use only distilled water readily found in most mega stores, cost you about a buck per gallon. happy ironing
