Question:

Why does red light penetrate further than blue light or green light?

When you shine a white light from a flashlight through your hand you see red on the other side. It is not the blood. Explain why it is red light. Use energy, frequency, wavelength, and any equations if you can.Thank you

Answer:

Because the red light has maximum wavelength(6200 - 8000 angstrom)while blue light (4640 - 5000 angstrom) and green light(5000 - 5780 angstrom) have less wavelength. It also have least frequency (3.75*10^14 Hz ) which enables it to penetrate more. You can also see dispersion of white light in prism in which the red light is above all other six colours because Red light moves with large velocity and offers less deviation in screen. Hope it helped....
Red light has a low frequency, low energy, long wavelength. It can bend around things and go through things without harming them.
What do you need these safety lights for? I don't think it will be illegal but that doesn't mean a cop won;t give you trouble if you are doing something stupid with them.
it is...... ur blood.. it's not that the red light it traveling further becus it has more energy no it has less energy, the blood it simply acting as a filter, its absorbing the blue and other frequencies except red
Actually, when you shine a light through your hand, it IS the blood and tissue that makes it red. In the visible electromagnetic spectrum, red has the lowest wavelength out of all of the colors and violet (purple) has the highest. This is why you don't see red in the ocean. Red light dies out the fastest when exposed to resistance. Violet and blue are the highest frequencies and they last the longest. If one were to hop in a submarine and travel straight down, first red would disappear, then orange, then yellow, then green, then blue, then indigo, then violet. After violet disappears, it is pitch dark. So, red light is actually the fastest to die out and when you shine a light through your hand, it is blood and tissue that makes it red. Hope this helps.
